Harbour Fellowship Programme November 2021 - October 2022.
We are excited to announce the inaugural Harbour Collective Fellowship Programme starting on Monday 1st November 2021.
We have three places on offer and are accepting applications from now until Monday, 18th October 2021.
About The Programme.
Our Fellowship Programme will run for 1 year (November 2021 – October 2022) with the first 6 months as part of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme.
You will rotate between three different Harbour Collective member agencies throughout the year, changing every 4 months. We will do our best to assign agency placements according to your preferences.
There will be an abundance of opportunities for our interns to undergo training, attend workshops and receive career coaching from both Harbour Collective and our partner, Create Jobs. Our three interns will also become part of the Create Jobs Community, accessing exclusive events, training, and mentoring opportunities.
Following successful graduation from the programme, we aim to offer each intern employment at a Harbour Collective member agency of their choice.
The purpose of this programme is to introduce you to the creative industries and give you the chance to discover the various types of career paths and opportunities that are available and possible within marketing, advertising, communications and media. This fellowship programme is not specific to one department (e.g. strategy, creative, account management, project management, new business etc.).
Interns’ roles are likely to change depending on the member agency they get placed at as Harbour Collective’s member agencies specialise in different subgroups of marketing, advertising, communications and media, and client projects will vary throughout the year.
The role is likely to include (but is not limited to) the tasks listed below. But don’t worry if you don’t know what some of these mean. We’ll teach you everything you need to learn.
Supporting and shadowing team members from various departments across a wide range of roles and titles (e.g. producers, planners, creatives, account managers, events teams, etc.).
– Attending briefing sessions, training courses and workshops.
– Planning, organising and helping set up events, shoots, pitches, internal & external meetings.
– Monitoring social media accounts, publishing blog posts, updating content on company websites, supporting other new business/outreach projects.
– Preparing, editing and drafting spreadsheets, documents and presentations.
– Insight finding for qualitative and quantitative data.
– Researching competitor reviews.
– Liaising with agencies’ clients, suppliers and leaders of Harbour Collective agencies.
Skills We're Looking for in You.

– Dependable, flexible team player who enjoys collaborating and brainstorming.
– Self-motivated, open-minded, quick learner.
– Demonstrates communication, organisation and time management skills necessary for juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
– Thinks critically and creatively.
– Enjoys a challenge and feels comfortable taking the initiative.
– Keeps calm under pressure and doesn’t hesitate to ask for help when needed.
– Introverts and extroverts welcome.
No previous qualifications or experience are required for our positions.
You just need to be 16-24 year olds, claiming Universal Credit and eager to learn, grow and develop the skills necessary for a career in the creative industries.
You will work from our member agencies’ offices (all Central and East London based). However, you may be asked to work remotely from time to time.

Create Jobs are an employability programme for young Londoners. They are also a DWP recognised Kickstart Gateway.
Since 2011, Create Jobs have been responding to aspiring creatives and employer needs by co-designing training programmes, brokering job opportunities and developing networks. By 2030, they will have supported the next generation of talent into 40,000 new jobs.
Create Jobs are powered by A New Direction, a not-for-profit organisation that exists to ensure that all children and young people in London can develop their creativity and play an active part in the culture and heritage of the city.
The programme was founded in 2011 by A New Direction and Create London, with the joint ambition of working together to address the disconnect between post-16 education and training, and employment. Create Jobs is now delivered by A New Direction, with Create London continuing its support through the Create Jobs Advisory Group.
About the Government Kickstart Scheme.
Kickstart is a government initiative created to support the economy and labour market in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme seeks to support the employment of young people, aged 16-24, to gain valuable experience and develop their work-related skills.
Kickstart was announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the policy paper, A Plan For Jobs 2020. The scheme was launched on 2 September 2020, and the Government are seeking 250,000 placements for young people to commence by December 2021.
This programme is designed to build young people’s experience and leave them with practical skills and knowledge for future employment opportunities.
